MISSION AND OUTREACH
Cambridge Presbyterian has long held together Christian formation, community life, and missional engagement. Ever since 1892, when 40 charter members purchased property at 1418 Cambridge Street, the church has had a continuous history of serving the local community and the wider world in the name of Jesus. In every chapter of the congregation's life, God has faithfully sustained the community and formed it for the next chapter of ministry and mission. The following are our mission priorities, partners, and special offerings:
GROWING A NEIGHBORHOOD CHURCH FOR THE CITY
Youth on Fire (YOF), an outreach program of The Home for Little Wanderers, is a daytime drop-in center in Harvard Square serving homeless and street involved youth aged 14 - 24. Our church prepares a monthly meal for YOF and donates sleeping bags, coats and meal cards to their clients.
The Outdoor Church is a church for unhoused people in Cambridge. Our church helps to distribute food and warm clothing every other month to hungry persons in Harvard and
Central Squares, forming personal connections with street involved
people.
Boston Center for Pregnancy Choices (BCPC) is an inner city crisis pregnancy center offering free services which include pregnancy tests, ultrasound referrals, and confidential options counseling. BCPC’s Springwater after-abortion outreach provides a pathway to hope and healing.
Route One Ministry serves sexually exploited and trafficked women by entering strip clubs and building relationships with the women dancers, which is the key factor in finding the pathway towards freedom. Our church provides Route One with financial support, as well as annually donating
Christmas bags as gifts to the dancers.
